UCT MOOCs on Coursera

The UCT MOOCs team is pleased to announce the launch of two brand new MOOCs on the market leading Coursera platform. UCT is Coursera’s first partner institution on the African continent.


Understanding Clinical Research: Behind the Statistics
https://www.coursera.org/learn/clinical-research launched on 01 December, and has already received over 1000 enrollments. The course has been developed by Dr Juan Klopper, head of the Acute Care Surgery division of the Department of Surgery in the Health Sciences Faculty, and is intended for health professionals faced with the often bewildering task of interpreting clinical research statistics in published research.
Climate Change Mitigation in Developing Countries
https://www.coursera.org/learn/climate-change-mitigation/ was launched on 07 December to coincide with the recently concluded COP 21 talks in Paris, and provides an insight into the complex process of how countries from the South pursue development goals while also mitigating climate change. Presented by Professor Harald Winkler, director of the Energy Research Centre, and his colleagues from the Mitigation Action Plans & Scenarios (MAPS) Programme.
