The isiXhosa Communications Skills course is still growing every year. 43 isiXhosa and Afrikaans learners received their certificates from the isiXhosa and Afrikaans Communication Skills courses on the 8th October 2019.  The number comprised of 15 Afrikaans beginners and 29 isiXhosa beginners. These are students who sacrificed most of their lunch hour time to come and learn isiXhosa and Afrikaans which are offered by the Multilingual Education Project in the Centre for Higher Education Development. The courses are offered at Beginners levels and Intermediate level for isiXhosa. The courses run for 12 sessions. The courses have created interest to lots of South African and international students. Participants to these courses learn basic conversational skills like greetings, introductions, giving personal information etc. The courses also equip learners and staff with intercultural competence and understanding of one another.

The certificates were handed out by A/Prof Alan Cliff who is the Dean of CHED who praised and encouraged the learners to make use of what they have learned. The courses will be offered again in 2020 in the first and second semesters.
