In keeping with its mission, CHED conducts research to inform educational development practice in higher education at UCT and also nationally and internationally. In addition, CHED research aims to contribute to building the theoretical research field broadly defined as higher education studies.

CHED researchers may be on academic or PASS conditions of service, and conduct research individually or collaboratively. Some faculty-based CHED researchers also conduct disciplinary research in research centres located in their faculties.

CHED research outputs include peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and conference papers. Our researchers also produce research-based policy, institutional reports, and curriculum development. Many of these outputs are available on OpenUCT. CHED scholarship also forms the basis of opinion pieces in online media.
