School Outreach
Since 2015 the Centre for Educational Assessments (CEA) has had many outreach programmes:
- Youth Development Programme Career Expo
- SHAWCO – assisting with selection of learners from the Saturday School programme
- 100UP – CEA’s research team works with students in the 100UP programme to allay fears of writing assessments
- CEA has been collaborating with the KZN Department of Education since 2016 in assisting the learners from quintile 1-3 schools to write the NBT without payment. Each year the staff of CEA present the NBT requirements to the learners at the Career event organized by the department.
- In addition, the CEA has been working with the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls (OWLAG) to ensure
Here's what CEA can do:
- Include information about assessments and services offered that go to parents at the beginning of the school year
- Feature easy-to-access information about the NBTs on the school website that highlights the requirements for the test
- Promote the NBT via emails, social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter, and other communications with parents, learners and teachers
- Enlist teachers and principals to encourage students to participate in taking the NBT by providing information about the assessment and the benefits of the NBT
- Inform teachers and learners by giving presentations at schools and career events organized by schools and department of education in the provinces.
