  • How and when did you get involved with the GC programme?

A friend of mine sent me the job ad for the assistant lecturer internship, I applied and here I am. I started working here late April/early May 2018.

  • What influenced your decision to join the GC staff?

    A lot.

In short, I recently made the decision to live my life following my curiosity, focusing my time and attention on the things that matter most to me. I am interested in producing research that allows for meaningful, material change in people’s lives, my own included. I want to spend my time thinking, theorizing and sharing what I am learning. I want to create. I want to add value to the communities that I am a part of, have my contributions valued and be fairly compensated for these contributions.

I want to be in spaces where the people around me are also working towards adding value to their communities in the ways that they envision. I want…to live well…to be living well with groups of people who are absorbed in the task of living well. These are some of the aspirations that I have for my life and this year I have made progress in believing (that in-your-bones-at-your-core belief) that I have a right to realize them. I have made a commitment to realizing these aspirations. I have chosen this life and I come into this space knowing that for me, in part, being able to fulfil my commitment is a social justice issue.

  • What do you find most exciting about being part of the GC team?

My broad interpretation of what “social justice” work is, is that it is a commitment to living well, building and nurturing healthy, thriving communities. What I find exciting about working at GC is that I get to work with and learn from an incredible group of people who are invested in living well and building healthy communities. That’s pretty dope.

  • What is the one thing you think people should know about you?

That there will never be just one thing that I want to share about myself, hahah.

I am committed to the promotion and practise/process of healing. And, I love reality tv.I will design a course where the primary resource is a reality tv show. I will obviously also have to create a reality tv show one day. Obviously.

Ps: The healing and reality tv often overlap. Facts.
