Facilitators Course: Using a Decolonial Approach to Difference, Social Justice and Dialogue
The purpose of the facilitators course is to provide a space to learn, reflect, think critically and develop facilitation skills in the context of decolonising higher education. Through discussion, debate, and activities the course will help you to reflect on the context in which learning happens, explore and examine sites of learning such as universities, communities, and families, and enhance and develop communication skills such as reflective and active listening, empathetic and compassionate reflection, questioning/probing and containment skills. You will also be required to facilitate a workshop as an outcome of the course.
Course Objectives:
- To provide a space for critical thinking, reflection and learning to facilitate within a decolonial context
- To provide a space for discussion on the challenges of communicating, and dialogue within a university context
- To provide a space to develop and practise facilitation skill
