Associate Professor Glenda Cox
I am a Senior Lecturer in CILT. I am in the Staff development team. My portfolio includes Curriculum projects, Teaching innovation grants, Open Education Resources (OER) and Staff development. I am a UNESCO chair in Open Education and Social Justice. I completed my PhD in Education(2016) and my research focused on using the theoretical approach of Social Realism to explain why academic staff choose to contribute or not to contribute their teaching resources as OER.
I am passionate about the role of Open Education in the changing world of Higher Education. I am currently the Principal Investigator in the Digital Open Textbooks for Development (DOT4D) initiative(http://www.dot4d.uct.ac.za/). My current research includes analysing the role of open textbooks for social justice. The DOT4D team has used Nancy Fraser’s social justice framework.
