South African Principal Investigator: Laura Czerniewicz
This joint universities of Cape Town and Leeds research project sets out to investigate the opportunities unbundling and new provision models offer for addressing South Africa and England Higher Education challenges. In the context of an increasingly globalised and networked higher education sector and severely unequal social and economic landscapes, the project examines the unbundling of educational provision through digital technology and will explore decision making processes, marketisation dynamics (e.g. business models, alternative provision and involvement of private providers), changing roles and relationships as well as the implications for a range of stakeholders - students, staff and employers. This 2.5 year project is jointly funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), the UK Newton Fund and the South African National Research Foundation (NRF).
