DOT4D is proud to be the recipient of the 2021 Global OER Graduate Network (GO-GN) Fred Mulder Award for Best Open Practice.

Launched in 2017 and named in honour of GO-GN founder Professor Fred Mulder, the award aims to recognise and celebrate open practices and research in open education.

The DOT4D project received the award for the way in which it embodies openness in its research, implementation and advocacy activities. Integrating aspects of open education, open data and open access in its programme design, all outputs produced by the project as well as the academic community it supports are released under Creative Commons licences.

The project’s ‘Open Textbooks in South African Higher Education’ initiative aims to extend this open practice and reach beyond national borders.
